*as you meditate on the holocron dating back to the Old Republic, a Jedi hologram appears*
If you have accessed this holocron, then it is evident that you either seek knowledge in Beast powers, or you've accessed the wrong holocron, I suppose. Or, perhaps, you're a librarian clearing out. Anyhow, onto a more formal introduction.
I am Master Elisava Talanori, Knight of the Order, aspiring Beast Master, and former member of the Enclave of the Academy of Kaleth. I have studied Animal Friendship and Animal Telepathy for nearly fourteen years as of creating this, and Beast Language for several.
Animal Friendship
Firstly, Animal Friendship. Also known as 'Beast Trick' and 'Beast Control'.
I will divide animals into several categories. How intelligent is the animal? Is it as smart as the Rancor, or perhaps more like an Orobird? How experienced are you? Those matter considerably. You can go for a month-long trip to Dathomir, if you wish, to tame a Rancor. It's time-consuming; the smarter the beast, the longer it takes. If you want an Orobird, give it a few hours, tops. In reality, if you can't put this dedication into befriending a beast in the long-term, don't. For a small encounter, perhaps, do what you want, but don't think about getting a pet, without the necessary environment for them. Be careful when using this, for the animal may appear to be friendly for a few moments, before returning to usual perhaps, or perhaps even aggressive towards you.
Animal Telepathy
Next, is Animal Telepathy. It's rather simple. You can read an animal's thoughts, as you probably could have guessed. There is so little to actually write about it, other than the more intelligent the animal, the more complex its thought methods. An orobird might simply think of a plain, while a varactyl might think of which plant it wishes to dine on, as well as a wardrobe malfunction you may have faced. Telepathy with humans can be as complicated as actual speech. But with animals you need to use vivid images, smells and 'three-word commands' for their brains are different that those of more sentient beings. You may be able to calm them but you won't necessarily be able to ask them to calm another, for example.
Beast Language
Finally, Beast Language, which can be used to speak with any beast, be it an animal, perhaps an Uxibeast or a Varactyl, all the way to sentient beings, like Wookiees, even. Any beast, sentient or not, will be able to communicate with you using Beast Language. This can be a back and forth conversation. That said, you'll be understood by those who understand you anyway, but don't expect everyone to understand the beast you speak to. Personally, I use Beast Language when speaking with my creature-friends, or if I'm making new creature-friends.
Other
I also suggest that you shouldn't go full-out with finding your perfect companions. Find one, and fully befriend them. If you're close with nature, and are an aspiring Beast Master, such as myself, two would do. If you are a Beast Master, three would be ideal. Just, ensure you look after them. If a Council member stepped on my ship, they wouldn't be happy with my Orobird in the escape room, Vrakes in my medbay, Varactyl in my diplomacy room, and so on.
